Very misleading title, North Korea hasn't nuked anyone yet but the possibility is looking so likely unfortunately. I hope that continue to piss off China, then the Kim regime can finally go.

If it happened i would rather have China annex it than have Korean reunification. Reunification would put much strain on South Korea's economy at least right now, but China could deal with it.

Would the best solution not be annexing but rather a joint task force to remove the current regime and help the North Koreans install their own government while providing economic assistance from the global community?

With with short to medium term military restriction's to be sure.

If the Kim dynasty went, why would there be a need for 2 koreas? If China annexed it, it could develop the North and eventually give it to the South to form one Korea, when the economic burden of reunification would be far less. The economic disparity between North Korea and South Korea is huge, it makes the disparity between East Germany and West Germany in the 1980's seem normal. I'm just not that convinced the UN and the international community could do this, if the USA played a major role it can't afford to help North Korea grow, like it could when it helped Japan and South Korea, in the 1950's and 1960's. The USA can't even afford war anymore, it needs to realise this.
