Well this could be a strategy to get sony out of the gaming market... Imagine, if they would release a new gameboy with similar hardware as the psp as a third console (and they always said that the ds isn't the successedor of the gameboy, but a third console line) they could destroy the psp if it sells well. if it wouldn't sell well, they may would lose some money, but they wouldn't do much harm to themselves because they could introduce a new ds in two or three years.
I don't think that they will do this, but I always felt it's suspicious that they didn't call the ds a successedor of the gameboy.
