Its MP mate, two people play and its time based. If you slay creatures, you get time back. 5 waves, at the end of 1 wave, u get some time back depending on how fast u did it. As u reach wave 5: An "epic boss awaits you".

 

Oh and the XP you get adds to the overall MP champion that you have!

I dont think so, it says MP so you need your friend to have a you know.. MP character too. But who knows.
