I have to disagree... VGC SOLD shows 4,189,711 end of July for Europe only (not added Australia and others PAL region launced late March 2007).
VGC Nov-Mar (US and JP): 1,144,006 + 838,004
VGC Mar-Jul (Europe): 4,189,711
SOLD in the first five month launch: 6,171,721
Guessed shipment for the same period: 7 million.
PS. I think you just forgot the PS3 had one of the best lauch in Europe ever.
