In my entire life I have yet to meet an actual transgender person. Maybe I have and never noticed it though. I'm currently doing a phd and I honestly can't picture anyone in my field getting a job in academia. It's so hard to get a job as a lecturer in the first place that I believe transgender people would never get an equal/fair chance.
I hope this doesn't come off wrong.
(that's from my experience in the uk at least. maybe in the states it's different)
