I don't know what you hope to achieve by jumping all the time? Everyone knows that the key the winning in God of War is Square, Square, Triangle, Dodge, rinse and repeat.

The key to win is throw whenever possible because most throws make you invincible during its animation and they can't be blocked.

If throw isn't possible, then block and hit the enemies during their recovery animation. Playing offensively in God of War is risky because most enemies doesn't get stunned by regular attacks.

The Triangle hit in the Pume of Prometheus combo (Square, Square, Triangle) will stun most enemies though.

Yes because that isn't a regular attack, it is a launcher (well, it isn't a "true" launcher but I'm not going to get into a terminology discussion).

Any move that launches enemies into the air or knocks them down works, but they're unsafe (can't block quickly after it or leave you in the air) or take a while to set up, like the square, square, triangle combo. The same enemy you're attacking can hit you during the squares, hence the "block and hit them during their recovery".

Edit - And reversals are bugged in GoW 1 so they aren't an option in that one - which leads us to Rol's thread.
