In some ways, they are segregated though. There have a massive wall right in front of them, Palestinians are contained within their region, like they are prisoners. There are certainly denied freedom of movement, thanks to Israel. Even though, most of them are not fanatics and just want to live their normal lives.
As for the bus thing, it says that palestinians get their own buses because Israelis think they are "security risk". How is that not racist? That assuming all Arabs are dangerous, unstable loonies that love to blow shit up. Most Arabs are not like this. But If it the buses are cheaper for them anyway, i guess that's good but that wasn't so obvious in the article. Part of my problem, is that the "security risk" excuse could be used to segregate palestinians against anything in the future, even if it's not like that now. Also, i wish conservatives could stop calling people like me who criticise Israel, anti-semitic it's really pathetic. (that's not aimed at anyone here) But Zionism is just a bad ideology like all the other forms of nationalism and fascism. Anyway, i think it's about time the US stood back and let Israel run itself. |
A)Again. Do you see all of the Palestinian territories as a part of Israel?
If so. Ok, You believe in a one state solution and that's a difference of opinion between us. You also disagree with both the Israelis and Palestinians.
Otherwise, it's one country preventing people an area wanting to be a country from entering lands they claim. Is it wrong the US just doesn't let anyone from Mexico or Canada into the country unless we check them?
Though you know... massivly off topic.
B) That's what the article says. It's not quoting anyone, or anything for that matter. They just said that's why because "Readership! Scandolous!"
I mean, lets look at this with common sense.
Israeli settelrs are afraid of terrorists so they give the Palestinians their own cheap bus.
So the plan to stop this is to
1) Give Palestinians a cheaper bus they can ride on.
2) NOT force Palestinians to ride on that bus, letting them still ride on the buses here.
Maybe it's me, but that sounds like a plan to INCREASE terrorist attacks. Since now you don't have to worry about blowing up as many of your own countrymen.
3) Israeli's aren't afraid of Palestinians riding on buses with them, they are afraid of people from the Palestinian territories riding on buses with them. Which you know. Considering they are technically still at war that's a perfectly reasonable worry.
Would you consider it racist if South Koreans were afraid to ride on the same bus as North Koreans? I'd think not, and to my knowledge North Koreans don't have a history of a small group of themselves suicide bombing others in public.
Again note, this is only for people in the Palestine territories, who are still at war with Israel. Palestinians in Israel? No change. To call it racist is to not really understand the word.
