Computer monitors are a big part of why PC games look so much better than console games.

Well, that plays a role, but the bigger reasons are resolution + customizable features, and DVI vs HDMI. Next gen, things will be closer if most games can maintain a higher resolution.

Yep, not arguing with you there

I just wanted to state that HD monitors have a surprisingly big part of how good games look (at least it surprised me).

Whats the difference between DVI and HDMI? Does one look better than the other?

HDMI can only output 1080p @ 60Hz on console (and most consoles games aren't even in native 1080p), while PC can enjoy higher fps, in addition to higher resolutions with DVI or DP (Display Port). For example, I have my 360 hooked up to a Samsung SA23700D, 3D, 120Hz monitor, yet, the picture clarity is still trumped by my PC (which I have running on another of the exact same model). This is all before we even get to the indivdual, PC exclusive traits.

Will the picture quality look better if you have a HDMI to DVI connector (for instance I use the HDMI cord from my 360 and plug it into a DVI adapter and then plug it into the DVI port on the monitor). Or will it look the same because it's limited to what the HDMI cord can do?
