Do you know the WiiU, it has 50GB HD-Discs but not uses blu-ray, Microsoft could do the same use random 50Gb Discs you have not to use blu-ray if you want 50gb Discs.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to use Blu-ray since thats in mass production anyway

Nintendo always walked the path of creating their own format and not using DVD etc, the only time i remember they used a sub proprietory was CD from Philips. On the other hand MS has always used DVD and never created or used their own proprietory format, so its safe to assume they will use Blu-ray, or else a modiefied version of HD-DVD minus the HD movie playback capability.
