I keep seeing this thread and i just don't know what to make of it.
I mean i love alternate histories, but this one isn't really explained enough.... like Europeans just decide never to go west?
I think the most likely scenario is one that nobody seems to have mentioned.
The Americas get Conquered by the Japanese or Chinese.
Gunpowder and guns flowed to the east and were in use as early as withing Cortez lifetime. Chances are one of them would discover the America's and would of conquered it's peoples.
As it's not likely North and South America would of developed gunpowder, and even if they did... there wasn't that much readily available iron.
