It doesn't mean it'll be released to the public.  It just means the select press would be given a first-hand look at the hardware.

It's likely this will be a private, under NDA look, and then in March it'll be a public look.

That gives the press a chance to actually do full write ups about it.  They have full access to the hardware, full information, and they can disemminate it in aricles for publication in March.

If they offer very limited access, no.  What can happen is, let's say OXM is given the opportunity to first reveal, IGN may "scoop" them by publishing their article a day early. 

I'm not saying there won't be any leaks.  But I doubt the press will be the ones who leak it.  Employees, which it appears have been tight lipped so far, would be the likely source.
