But 720 doesn't even make sense. Microsoft went with 360 because it meant that the console was not just for games. It meant that it would be a "well rounded" entertainment center. The name Xbox Live makes sense if Microsoft plans to have a console that is also connected.  

Well that's the PR reason. The consumer psychology (i.e. the real) reason is that Xbox 2 doesn't sound as "advanced" as Playstation 3. With Xbox 360 they got to put a 3 in the name.

Shouldn't it be "Xbox Metro", or "Windows Xbox 8" (WX8)?
