Mummelmann said: Sure! Games like Baldur's Gate, Betrayal at Krondor and Ultima made me want to start writing and got me into reading as well. Without this creative input and inspiration, I wouldn't be half as well off as I am today as this has opened many doors on many areas. |
I can see that too for me. The stories from Zelda, FF, Ultima (6 was my fav!) got me into deciding to try reading fantasy fiction books (Dragonlance series and Forgotten Realms ). I otherwise had little intersted in reading as a hobby. Now I read allsorts of stuff.

Hahm that's funny! The first novel I read was "Legend of Huma" in the Dragonlance series! Those were great books back in the day, the Dragonlance series must be the biggest fantasy project available in book form today. I remember I was nine years old and cried when Huma died and Kaz the Minotaur visited his grave, I'd probably flinch at the base language and overall quality of the narration today but it was a good start and lead to some truly incredible reading experiences to this day!

My intro into the Dragonlance series was The Kagonesti, I tneded to play Wood Elves in Everquest 1, and thus was interested in any writing on anything closely related =) My most recent read actually was The Hobbit (insisted on reading it before I saw the movie). Currently reading some classics - Treasure Island, and the original JM Barrie version of Peter Pan (which is a lot darker than the Disney film ever made it out to be!)
