Gameplay wise, you are a one man army hack and slasher that pretty much determines the result of the battle. Each battle consists of an area scattered with allies and enemy groups usually led by a fellow one man army officer and they move and shift around to caputer objectives or defeat the enemy. I try to maximize the number of officers I kill for money/weapon/armor benefits and then finish off the general.

Story wise it is ancient china during the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the Ming, Han, and Yuan dynasties along with the other factions, historical battles, and individuals that were there at the time. It varies in its degree of historical accuracy and you can change the outcome and the whole thing actually takes place over a longer time period than what would really allow some of these officers to be around or at least able to fight.

Each game is essentially a remake. This is the only game I know that does this and keeps going.

Aaand...the Dynasty Warriors game that looked like a chapter of Mazinger Z? xD
