Wii U should be fine even with the ps4 and Xbox 720 depending on how they are both priced. I'm pretty sure both are going to be at least $400, making the wii u the least in cost, but also significantly weaker then the other two based on specs. Wii U definitely needs more games to sell consoles. First and third party would help a lot. Since Nintendo is lacking in third party support though, it'll probably be their first party to increase sales.
