Has the Xbox 360 gone the longest ever without an official price cut? If so why?

I was just thinking about this.  It seems like its been forever since the 360 had an official world wide price cut.  Is it the longest stretch ever for a console?  

If so why have they waited so long? MS makes a hefty profit on every Xbox sold so there's plenty of room for a large scale price cut.
