For me its the opposite, I am 40 years old and I don't want cutesy kiddy graphics and games. Nintendo have failed to grow up in terms of offering something different for the mature gamer. Nintendo also fail to do anything from the norm, its the same old tired genres and games, how many times can you release a Mario Kart or Platform game.... they fail to deliver new experiences while imho Sony continue to push the boundaries of new ip and different games.
But then its all a matter of opinion, but your initial argument is a bit weak to be honest....
