Just wondering how exactly they did that? Microsoft has never made pc's.
First pc we had was made by IBM, running MS-DOS.
And although he claims he never said 640kb should be enough for everybody he did say this:
He said “640K should keep everyone happy for the next 10 years.” Turns out he was wrong. Within less than 6 years we started hitting the “640K limit”… which wasn’t a hard limit at all, it was just a limit proposed by the operating system at the time. Mr. Gates thought that 640K was generous
That 640kb caused me tons of headache back in the day, expanded mem, extended mem patchwork ugh. Every other game I had to edit autoexec.bat and himem.sys to fix out of memory errors, fun times.
Anyway he did get it right eventually with windows xp (curse 3.1 and 95), windows NT and windows 7.
