its more important than just an engine,

its a technology to be used by developers to enable more realistic hair, engines are just the programs that uses these technologies

there is also one for realistic trees (used in Skyrim and Halo)

one for realistic Water

one for realistic clouds  

and so on and so forth. 

Yeah, I knew that. I just got a little excited with all the ps4/720 talk that it was a new engine, not just a small portion.
