That is absolutely true, Gears of War was a really awesome and unique as the first one came out but than it was such a huge success that everyone whant to have a pice of this 3rd person cover Shooter Genre. Than Sony, EA, Activision and every one else copied Gears of War with Games like Unacharted, Dead Space(especially Deard Space 2 and 3), Quantum Theory,The new Tomb Raider Reboot, Resident Evil 6, Vanquish, Mass Effect 2 and 3 usw. . And because of Geras of Wars huge success now almost every Game has to be 3rd person cover Shooter.
At the time Gears came out it was almost the first and only 3rd person cover Shooter.
The and it is the same story with Halo.
