But you can play pirated games on the system. Downside is that MS somehow knows you have a modified system so you can (and probably will) get permaban from Live, the only way to play on Live again is to get a new system, but you can play single player without a problem. 

well that's different from OP though.

You still can't play pirated games on the ps3, only a specific model type or two were able, and only if not updated.

MS did a pretty bad job of protecting the system, but my point is simply that it doesn't just take "a few years" for emulators to run on computers. It takes sometimes a gen or more.

The OP says emulate or hack. Playing pirated games is part of the system being hack. I don't expect to see a PS4 emulator anytime soon (if ever) but the point is that because of very similar architecture to the PC this job will be "easier" (that goes for both playing pirated games and the emulator).
