Even with all that, MS couldn't hold onto that ball for the remainder of the gen. Just shows you Sony's wise decisions of late have paid off, as well as the strength of the PS brand. I do have to give MS kudos for keeping the lead for so long, though. Also, it's hilarious to watch 360 guys try and downplay this. Back in 2008 and early 2009, when the gap was ~8M, most were bragging about how the gap would either stay the same or just continue to grow larger. Now that the PS3 is guaranteed to pass the 360 year, it will probably end the gen with a 8M+ lead, IT DOESN'T MATTER. Of course, I'm sure if MS had kept the lead, it would have meant everything in the world. |
The PS3 would've overtaken it much sooner, but the 360S and Kinect rejuvenated the xbox sales. Kinect alone is responsible for extra 10-15m Xbox sales.
