While I don't completely dispute their might be some domestic byass towards PS3 in japan, the same can be said about 360 and it's design. Being an american based product doesn't seem to be hurting Apple products in Japan tho. The truth of the matter is the Japanese frequently see american base products and subpar as far as design and tech goes....because they usually are. Even americans know when you buy an american based product, expect some problems. Take cars, almost every foreign made brand far out performs them. I personally see what they mean. I tend to stay away from things made by american companies for the same reason(not all things, just some). |
Funny that poll was taken over 3 years ago, and people's opinions may have changed since then. And that poll probably oversampled PS3 fanboys.

All machines with mechanical parts are bound to fail at some point. Some American cars are really, really good, and some are not. Japanese cars have their fair share of bad eggs too. I drive a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant which is Japanese and I love it, but I love many American cars too. The Xbox is not a subpar product it's just the Japanese have different tastes in games than we do. Nintendo and Sony appeal more to their tastes. The Xbox 360 hardware was actually designed by a Japanese group from Osaka!!! So if you're going to blame someone for a subpar product blame the Japanese.
