Look at the number of DS's in Japan. I'd guess a large number of PS3 owners in Japan own a DS. Though FF13 does have little chance of hurting DQ the opposite could theoretically be true.
DQ is also the bigger series in Japan as far as I know.Though I think it's mostly just an excuse either do to development or to wait for the PS3's userbase to grow.
