I completely disagree there, especially if you mod.

I don't follow pc gaming so I don't know what mods are capable of doing. Personally, the way I view it pc gaming with pc building and modding is a hobby in itself as opposed to console gaming where all that matters is the gaming experience.

Ah, but that's just it, on PC, modding is also part of the gaming experience. Sometimes, it IS the experience.

But his point is that modding isn't gaming.

Day-Z, Counter-Strike, Cry of Fear and other games, born from moderations, might like to have a word with you.

I played CS on the PC and I didn't have to mod anything - I just downloaded an executable, installed and played it. No modding needed.

But you did, it was a half-life mod lol, what year did you start playing PC games? Graphics mod are the same way, you usually just install it these days, better yet, with Steam Workshop and the way Skyrim deals with mods, you are literally just clicking the "add" button and you are done lol.

While it was a mod, it was still a game. So a rare exception rather than a rule. As I said, PC gaming has its niche and I don't truly understand why people would go for it but to each his own.

You are also forgetting that Team Fortress was originally a Quake mod, then got updated into a Half-Life mod, Valve then hired them, then eventually we saw Team Fortress 2, or maybe you don't even know that? That is not a rare exception at all, a lot of total conversions turned into single games and a lot of those modders got hired into actual gaming studios, and PC gamers are always the first ones to taste the good shit.

PS: also look at Blackmesa, I mean, mod is good shit man, you are totally missing out if you deny them.
