I don't follow pc gaming so I don't know what mods are capable of doing. Personally, the way I view it pc gaming with pc building and modding is a hobby in itself as opposed to console gaming where all that matters is the gaming experience.

Ah, but that's just it, on PC, modding is also part of the gaming experience. Sometimes, it IS the experience.

But his point is that modding isn't gaming.

Day-Z, Counter-Strike, Cry of Fear and other games, born from moderations, might like to have a word with you.

I played CS on the PC and I didn't have to mod anything - I just downloaded an executable, installed and played it. No modding needed.

The point was you were able to play the game that was born out of modifications. You don't have to do any modding to play CS.

And my point still stands - you're not gaming when you're building a mod. Just like you're not gaming when you're developing a game. But to each his own - I'm only into gaming for the gaming, in other words - to play games.

Well, modding is part of gaming for many others. So, all I can say, agree to disagree. I don't create modifications to look at the moon, I use them to play in my game(s). Tell the people that played Unreal Tournament III on PS3, or any of the LBP titles that "modding isn't part of gaming", and I guarantee you'd see looks of bewilderment.

Besides, since you don't follow PC gaming, that makes it even harder for you to argue against it.

I'm not arguing against it. I just find it odd that some people (not all) say they are gamers and are more interested in hardware and mods.

Edit: Comparison with LBP isn't fair since a lot of people use the creating tools to create a story or a game in itself - not to make textures look better or things like that.
