JWeinCom said: Is there really anything wrong with derailing a thread that's obvious flamebait? I've found it's a pretty effective way to discourage trolling. The troll is denied the satisfaction of becoming the center of attention as he desires. It's funny to see them trying endlessly to win back their thread only to be told "quiet, we're talking about cartoons here". Derailing troll threads is the best way to fight trolling. Oh wait, sorry, I got off topic for a moment. Apple Jacks is my favorite cereal right now, but I kind of go in cycles. I'll buy one until I get sick of it, then move on to the next cereal in the rotation. I really need to go buy some fruity pebbles. Love the texture of that stuff. |
I get where you are coming from but there are rules against derailing threads.
On topic, I live Frosted Flakes and Fruity Pebbles.
|
But why does that rule exist? Certainly, the rule doesn't exist to protect threads like "Is The Wii U A Smelly Turd". Do we enforce rules for the sake of enforcing them, or to actually make the forums a better and more enjoyable place?
On topic, I have Lucky Charms, Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs, and Frosted Flakes in the house. Decisions, decisions.

We do enforce them to make the forums a better place. If all of the OPs were derailed like that, then no one would ever be able to discuss anything. These forums should be a place for people to discuss anything that they want within reason as long as they are civil about it. Is The Wii A Smelly Turd ? thread was locked because of the OP itself and not the discussions about cereal.
Speaking of which...
It's been a while since I have had Lucky Charms. Maybe I should get a box.

Lucky Charms is always a disappointing cereal. Too much cereal, not enough marshmallows.
