I prefer single-player because your playing the game by yourself and your getting an excellent experience out of the game with no interruptions at all.
Multiplayer is good because you can play with friends over the internet. I prefer co-op story mode though, because online battles is sort of retarded right now. Everyone is finding glitches in games to win and it's sad now.
Single-player is the way to go, since I like Japanese role playing games. And multi-player is good going against friends and playing a co-op story mode.
