Because its not only the most powerful, but the most developer-friendly.

It will appeal to the casual gamer. It will have the next FiFA, it will have the next Call of Duty. It will have Netflix,Hulu..etc.

PS4 might be more expensive than the  next Xbox but I don't expect that price different to be more than $50.

Sony isn't what it used to be. Do you really think Microsoft is gonna let Sony have the upper hand on third party software, which is what made them in the first place? Not likely.

Well considering the direction they're taking and putting entertainment over games. Yeah. I think they're taking the support they have now for granted.
