The thing with dev kits is that they continue to evolve leading up to launch, because the console itself isn't finalized. Better tools being available for games that are supposed to release several months after launch (as opposed to launch titles) is pretty much a given.

Also, we are looking at a case where developers were told that they have more RAM available. I could understand non-finalized specs being a problem, if projects had to be scaled down to fit a new size, but the opposite is the case here.

And this limitation of the dev kits were apparently unveiled like 2 months before launch... I think they should have had the specs finilized by then. And as I said in the OP; this has been going on since the GC days.
