How would they block used games? The publishers that is. Sell an online pass, sure, that is expected but what else can they do?

PS3 has the ability to tell if a disc has been played on another console or not. They could potentially include the same technology and publishers could do that check each time you boot the disc up.

Or other possibilities. I'm gonna call BS on this though, none of these companies are dumb enough to block used games.

Don't be too sure. Capcom actually did it on the 3DS with Resident Evil: Mercenaries

I read somewhere that you can't start over/replay the game cause you are limited to one save only. 

I'm pretty sure that Capcom learned a lesson from that as well, Pretty sure that game didn't sell well at all with all the bad press about it. It was mostly a time attack game, so it didn't really affect it THAT much. In this case, gamers voted with their wallets, and capcom lost out. Hey, kinda like DmC!
