Nobody should realistically have expected the price or release date. Even the Gametrailers Preconference show with geoff keighly and those other two guys I see all the time but whos names escape me lol, said that kinda stuff is reserved for E3.

They showed the specs, games, new features, controller.

They didn't show the actual casing so that makes it a failed conference? No, people just want something to complain about.

People may be looking for something to complain about, but outside of our forum bubble that's exactly what's happening. The hype just isn't there from the mainstream press or on social networks currently; though obviously this will build closer to launch. I did expect it to be talked about more, though.

Yeah but seriously, a lot of the press or networks complaining sound like they are seriously biased. I mean by no means was the conference the best thing to ever happen haha.

But it seems like once again a lot of them are just cherry picking things to poke fun at Sony for no reason.

"As the hours of demos and introductions dragged on, it became increasingly obvious that we weren't actually going to see the PlayStation 4. Sony either isn't ready for primetime, or Sony thinks the best way to get us interested is to play hard to get."

I don't see how they can say dragged on. It's a Playstation conference, what were they expecting to see lol. I think it's highly probable if Sony hadn't shown a bunch of games and demos that same site would be criticizing Sony for lack of *drumroll* games and demos :p. Also they gave the specs which is the most important thing. It's a fairly powerful console and will be really easy to develop for. But because of the casing, Sony isn't ready for primetime? Laugh.

Talk is the cheapest thing there is. And that's basically what Sony did today: It espoused a philosophy, said the names of a lot of popular games, but didn't give us any real, concrete information in an age where it's more important than ever.

This one is like the exact opposite of the last complaint. The first complaint said "hours of demos" then this one states all Sony did was talk and name a lot of popular games, but didn't show anything. Uhm...

Most exciting is the share button. The PS4, we're told, will sneakily and transparently monitor and buffer our last 15 minutes of gameplay. This will be a boon to all those who think there is not enough inane video drivel on YouTube.

C'mon. Being able to upload the last 15 minutes of play is a pretty cool feature, even if you plan on never using it. This complaint is just clearly ridiculous. "inane video drivel". It sounds way too defensive to be spoken from an objective mindset.

What was missing from Sony was a discussion of anything that could've made it a more broadly appealing device. It (and we, as potential customers) needed way more than a falling back on graphics, eye candy and tech demos, which may have served the gaming industry well in the past, but which have done nothing to stem the rising tide of mobile platforms like iOS and Android.

This one is at least something which could be aimed at any of the big 3 instead of directly at Sony. Still though. name me an iOS or Android device with specs like the PS4 please. Can any of them play the games demoed at the conference? That is your distinguishing feature.

New features cannot hide the fact that PlayStation 4 is still a console, a way of playing games on compact discs that was cool when cellphones were not smart.

Yes. It's a console, that's the whole point lol. Seriously there were people freaking out because for a sec they thought that the PS4 would be a digital download console ONLY. That was later confirmed to be false by Yoshida. Sony made it a point to talk about how you can play games as you download them, did the New York times even watch the conference?

Does Sony employ any women to do presentations? The female gender was missing completely! -_- really? There were no black people either, Sony must be racist then right *eyeroll*

No box, no price, no release date, and a lot of games that look like hi-res versions of what we've played before. Again if this guy had any clue, he would know that info like that is saved for E3. Also does he not know that launch titles aren't indicative of what a console is capable of?

Anyway. There were things I didn't like about the conference don't get me wrong (move part and Square enix). It wasn't perfect but I think it was good. I just don't understand some of the complaints about it. A lot of the media ones seemed like they were really just looking for any reason to trash Sony. The New York Times one seemed like it didn't even watch the thing, and the femnine one made me laugh.
