They didn't go around showing us gameplay using the new touch pad, rather it was there to compliment the controller. Even though the controller has all these new features, they didn't try to sell it as the defining point of the PS4. That alone assures me that this controller won't be a gimmick. Rather, it will hold well in the transition to the next gen. |
The fact that they redesigned the controller and put a motion sensor in front along with a touch pad says enough. I dont think there was a defining point they tried to sell everything equally. It started off with them introducing lots of different features and they kept repeating the slogan "new ways to play". That is considered "gimmicks" from what a lof of Sony supporters say on this site. I have no problem with it cause they actually showed trying new things can and will be fun. The conference would be very boring if they just announced 8GB of RAM and showed off the games....agree?

They hardly redesigned the controller. Aside from the select/start buttons, everything from the DS3 is on the DS4, even the basic mould is similar. Functionalities were added but not replaced

I never said anything was replaced but im glad you acknowledge and agree that so called "gimmicks" was added.
