I switched from IE to FireFox a long time ago, mainly because Facebook and vgchartz were always giving me trouble. When I switched a lot of sites loaded twice as fast on FireFox. Dunno how it is now, I'm not upgrading to Win 8 any time soon. |
There are other reasons too, about its security in the past, although some subtler ones are unknown to most users. for example I decided to switch definitively to Mozilla when I risked being infected by a worm (luckily it crashed itself and Windows ME
) and searching around I discovered I took a risk bigger than I thought: back then IE, even if told to never store passwords, credit card numbers and other sensible data, it did it anyway without telling the users, in the file index.dat, and what's worse that file wasn't even encrypted, but just obfuscated, a common users would see it as unreadable, but hackers would have extracted info from it quite easily.
Since then I use IE just for MS Update and some online antivirus running only on it, but I'll never ever use it again for e-commerce or any other purpose where any of my personal data are required.
PS I don't even know whether they solved this serious issue or not, I just can't trust IE anymore.
