Anyone stop to think of the level of dysfunction their interest in videogames enables?

Maybe it's not as good as it used to be with Planescape torment, Grim Fandango, Silent Hill 2, Gabriel Knight, MGS etc. But fixed and lineair stories can still work in video games.

I don't believe that the appropriate way to do the comparisons is to compare the best of videogames to average stuff in the theaters.  The movie industry is getting to be more and more abysmal actually.  How about comparing the best of the best of both, or the average vs the average?  In both cases, videogames are going to pale in comparison.  That doesn't mean that one can't have a more engrossing experience with an average videogame than they do with an average movie, because they do involve interaction.

The movie industry has had since 1878 to produce the best of the best (plus thousands of years of experience in plays) So comparing the best of that against the best of 30 years of video games isn't that appropriate either.
Sure as it stands now, the best of movies are a lot more immersive then the best of videogames. Doesn't mean I often prefer a video game story since it keeps you more engaged in the process. Let's see how it is in a hundred years.
