He was pushed aside for a reason.
It took them several years to recover from the crippling losses that the PS3 incurred in it's early years, and his design for the PS3 has cursed multiplatform efforts to this day. That the PS4 is using the same off-the-shelf parts that the 720 will is as clean a break from Kutaragi's vision as possible.
I don't know if we're going to see him.
