I disagree (respectively ofcourse). Most of the people I have met really don't care about the subscription fee at all. They don't mind paying for Live. They put up with it this entire gen I don't see why they would stop all of a sudden. Not to mention in the US it's seen as the "cool" console. The public loves the Xbox brand and truly believes it's the best, whether that's true or not is irrelevant. Add to the fact that now Acheivment/Trophies are available and people seem less likely to switch now compared to last gens. |
I agree most HC Xbox gamers will stay on the console for the simple fact of getting those achievment points (much like Sony fans). But let's face it, we are going in a new gen where online will pretty much be a given in order to not lose the "base", we aren't in 2006 anymore with slow internet and bad servers. If Nintendo and Sony can have free online, with same multiplats (for Sony at least), MS will have to follow the free path whatever, even if a minority doesn't care about paying. If they want to sell consoles and build a big Base, they will have to deliver like the 2 Japanese brothers.
Perhaps that won't change US gamers choice on the whole as a primary console, but MS will miss out on the other continents, it's like a game of ''Risk''.
I'd rather see the Xbox go the way Sony did with PS+, seems to be the way to go this time arround...
But it's just an opinion
