Whats interesting is that PS3 hasn't hit the magic $199 price point yet. You'd think Sony would want to ride that period for as long as possible, but any PS4 announcement, especially a 2013 release would undercut that kind of momentum in some way.

Either PS4 will launch in 2014 or they are satisfied with how PS3 has sold and its current legs to really care about its legs at this point.

Just saying this is an anomoly as every last gen console was below that price before its successor came out. This will be the first scenerio where we can gauge how sales legs will play out.

well ps3 did start off at a rediculous price range compared to previous gens. A PS3 below $200 will definitely give some nice sales going forward. It will actually help them to drag those legs on for a bit longer too as there will be a lot of room for price drops in the coming years.
