No such thing as free. They've traded a $10 or so price tag for an inferior experience that wastes my time and throws interminable pay barriers between me and enjoyment. The game design goal changes from, "How can we create the most compelling experience for our customer?" to "What psychological balance of rewards, goals, and monetary barriers will optimize our revenues across all customers?"
Basically, the difference between a paid game and a free-to-play game is difference between a street busker and a street hustler. One gets rewarded based on how much his performance delights you, the other on how well he manipulates your trust. It's disgusting and I'm loathe to support it.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event." — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing
