It's just a thought I had but I think it plays very well into unifying Sony's offerings and strengthening multiple sides of Sony's business segments at once.

It's a bit necessary. Sony and Microsoft are fighting over who has the main gaming service, that means they need to spread to every platform they can. Microsoft took the first step by building Xbox into Windows 8. Sony will want to have Playstation being the default game store everywhere. Like how Kindle books sell on every device and are the main place people go to get ebooks.

Their TVs are a great place to start, but probably easier to just add Gaikai than build in PS3s.
