The WiiU is never going to succeed as long as it keeps competing with the PS3 and the 360...
On one side you have a platform with very little software and whatever software there is is only available at full price.
On the other side you have a huge software catalog and due to the longevity of the consoles, a huge part of the catalog is available at low/discounted price ( even new releases are heavilly discounted after a few months due to the age of the consoles).( there's plenty of games available for 20$ as digital download on the PSN that are as good in quality as most WiiU available titles..)
And the reality is that for the casual customer, the WiiU games look a lot like the PS3/360 games so in the customer's minds they do compete...
