The only reason it wasn't the main focus is because people didn't want it. If Sony could have the success Nintendo or MS had, they'd love it. You're basically trying to pat them on the back for not harping on a product that the market said no thanks to.
And of course since it was a dud, Sony is now trying to act as if they are above it. Just like when they were being sued for the rumble stuff, suddenly they had no rumble and it was a "last gen feature". They the lawsuit is over and suddenly rumble is cool again.
