No one is talking about how much bing makes.

I'm just telling you that last quarter they had 400 million extra searches which makes a substantial amount of money. Advertisers pay anywhere between 5-50 dollars CPC per keyword so you do the math. And look up what CPC means first.

Lol, alright I guess math isn't your forte so I'll help you.

From the link in the OP to December:

"ComScore also said that over 17.6 billion explicit core searches were conducted in December 2012"

0.1% = 0.001 as a fraction. 17.6b (total searches) * 0.001(increase in market share) = 17.6m not 400m. You were only off by an entire order of magnitude; not bad.

Searches != CPC. I'm familiar with the term. I guess you aren't. Maybe look it up, bud.

You're right. My math was off as the corect number is 350 million. I was talking about January as they don't provide clear growth data for December.

Your math however is way off. Search is a growing market. So to gain 0.1% you have to grow with the market + get extra marketshare.

Nearly 19.5 billion explicit core searches were conducted in January (up 11 percent), with Google Sites ranking first with 13.1 billion (up 11 percent). Microsoft Sites ranked second with 3.2 billion searches (up 12 percent), followed by Yahoo! Sites with 2.3 billion (up 9 percent), Ask Network with 536 million and AOL, Inc. with 331 million (up 7 percent).

Stay in school kids.

How is my math off? Please LOL

Get a clue.

Not sure where you got your January numbers but we're talking market share here so again I'll do the math for you since you're incapable.

Using your numbers (market share gain 0.1% (again, this is no different than December))

19.5b searches * 0.001 (market share increase) = 19.5m

Thanks for playing - learn basic algebra. LOL

Futhermore you ignored my FACT that search !=  CPC. Just so you'll get a clue about what you're talking about:

That means that only 2.5% of the searches are even generating anything for CPC. Meaning the real monetiziation is here. Some more math (I know it's tough for you):

19.5m (search proportion of 0.1% market share increase) * 0.025 (CPC portion) = 487,500. And at $0.40 per (I think that's current btw) = $195,000

So, here we have a $400m loss, and you think $195,000 is remotely significant at 0.04875%. LOL

Seriously just stop already. You're embarrassing yourself here.

You're talking about two different things here. Market share increase vs total search volume increase. In respect to that, both of you are correct. Market share growth is small, but total search volume growth is large because the overall search market is growing quickly. No need to talk to people you disagree with like they're idiots dsgrue, yeesh.
