If you end up charging people for these IDs, then it is a poll tax.

I hear this all the time so I decided to actually look up the cost of state IDs:

Massachusetts: $25/5 years

California: $26/6 years

Texas: $16/6 years

Am I missing something here?  Is $0.42 a month (high end) what people are complaining about?  Is that really a "prohibitive cost"?

There are really poor people for whom that is a problem.  It is also a tax to vote.  So, you up for making such an id free to obtain?

In regards to the othe post on absentee ballots in Florida, apparently that also has problems:

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-10-30/news/fl-orlando-absentee-ballot-problems-2-20121030_1_absentee-ballots-signatures-change-election-day

Not all states allow you to choose to use them.  In some cases, you have to present a case why you need one.

Well, again we see someone with a partisan view being a certain way.  Shouldn't be surprising thranx doesn't see a problem here.  You don't see what you are open to see, if you choose to live in a certain partisan bubble.

Except again.  There actually isn't a problem there.  It no doubt effected Republicans too... and it was... once again, people who just said "eh screw this" and left.

You ae upset essentially because people weren't willing to wait in line to choose the leader of the country.

How is that remotely the same thing?  You may as well be complaining about people who didn't vote because they just didn't feel like leaving their house.

If people are turned away... that's one thing.  People choosing not to vote.  Isn't remotely analgous to people choosing to vote illegally.
