If you end up charging people for these IDs, then it is a poll tax.

I hear this all the time so I decided to actually look up the cost of state IDs:

Massachusetts: $25/5 years

California: $26/6 years

Texas: $16/6 years

Am I missing something here?  Is $0.42 a month (high end) what people are complaining about?  Is that really a "prohibitive cost"?

There are really poor people for whom that is a problem.  It is also a tax to vote.  So, you up for making such an id free to obtain?

In regards to the othe post on absentee ballots in Florida, apparently that also has problems:

Not all states allow you to choose to use them.  In some cases, you have to present a case why you need one.

Well, again we see someone with a partisan view being a certain way.  Shouldn't be surprising thranx doesn't see a problem here.  You don't see what you are open to see, if you choose to live in a certain partisan bubble.
