Gaming - Your rarest trophy - View Post

Wow you REALLY are a trophy hunter aren't you? :)

I grew up with JRPGs. Thats a genre where I always tried to get most special items and since the stories are very complex I am used to finishing a game before I start the next one.

I seem to be some sort of completionist and I try to get 100% at every game. But some developments of this generation do not meet my gaming taste:

* DLCs. Most of them are not worth the time and money. I usually avoid them, except they offer a real entertainment value.

* Online Multiplayer. I am simply no competitive gamer. Even if I win a round I feel not much satisfaction. It must be a cultural issue. I got the impression that american gamer are very fond of competition. I prefer games with a deeper Story and with characters who are drawn out instead.

* Social Gaming... I hate these rating/hearting trophies like in Little Big Planet or Singstar.

* timesinks. I can't hear the phrase "more bang for your buck" anymore. Most games just add meaningless grinding or Sidequesting to stretch the gameplay time. Heavenly Sword was only a short game, but it was simply amazing for me. For me, its okay if a good action game only last 15-20 hours. Its better to let the game end before it gets to repetitive.

All in all I find Trophies to be a great feature... Developers should only try to make the Platinum Trophy achievable for the average gamer. Trophies like getting a world record or getting max level online while almost no one is playing the game are just annoying.
