Sure, diehard MS fans won't care (and will even defend MS's decision), and will buy it no matter what. But, once the average gamer finds out that the NeXbox can't play used games and rentals, especially those who make a habit of using cash from selling games to by more games and/or rent games before a full purchase, then they are going to stay clear of that system. True, if the consoles decide to make that the big difference and there's no difference in game library or price, that certainly can be a deciding feature. I do wonder if tying oneself to your Live or PSN account won't overcome that though. The loyalty last gen went where the games were at, but this gen we have online accounts.
MS would be idiotic to insist on it if Sony isn't doing it.
