What the fuck? GT5 prologue, GT PSP, GT5 sold 15-20 mil between them. They've done great this gen, and their platform is 1/2 the size of last gen.

So they got the sales down nicely, but the reviews leave something to be desired in them all :P

Reviews were mostly wrong.
Reviews said this and that isn't in the game until PD said "Get to the higher levels" and everything those qualified(LOL) reviewers said was missing existed in the game. For example the damage > It is there but only when you get a high enough level.Cause in a REAL DRIVING Simulator you have to learn the stuff.
Cause as we all know the people who did good in GT5 got the chance to get invited to the GT Academy and some of them become (Semi) Pro Race Drivers ;)
GT5 is by far the best RacingSim in this Gen and outsold the "competition" by miles by its sheer quality.Especially in the 2.0 Version it got to an untouched level.
As a racing game and Simulator it is the best in this whole Gen - Forza,Need for Speed or anything like that doesn't even come close.
Reviewers are just bad at doing their job - They clearly didn't invest enough time in this game.
I know in this Gen we are at a point where you can finish games like CoD in 2 hours on the hardest difficulty and get a clap on the shoulders by Bobby Kotick for your insane Achievement but there are still some games that have enough content for 1000+ hours.

And Yoshida probably gets rated for how good the game sold at the end.
The Prologue Edition made them more money than the development did cost anyway and GT5 sold like hot cupcakes.
A Racing Game in THIS Shooter/FPS/Violence Gen

Of course it would have been better if there would be 2-3 GT Games in this Gen but i think they are pretty happy with the money they made and how they still will dominate next Gen(GT6 is probably in development as they hinted)
TLG is of course an other thing and something like this shouldn't have happened(Versus13 too but this is an other thing cause Wada loves the West and Microsoft while Nomura hates those things and loves the PS3 ) - They probably moved it over to the PS4 cause the last time you heard something about the game they had issues with the power of the PS3.And if this game is even to much for the PS3 it is probably good looking enough for an early PS4 Game cause as we all know the Top10 and some more of this Gen are ruled by PS3 Exclusives ;)

Probably the same case with Jay Wilson and Diablo 3
He made Blizzard money so he can stay and even be the lead at a new project even if Diablo 3 turned out to be the biggest garbage in the last years.
The upper heads don't care cause the game did sell.
