My intentions are to show that this thread is stupid, and that your telling others that using it is a mistake is stupid.

Those are my intentions, and I stand by them.

So calling something by the correct name, and not the name of another console, is stupid.

In this very thread you already have the covers of magazines from Croatia and Poland that include PSX in the name. How can you still claim that it wasn't particularly used outside of USA? It was used all over the world. That's the only term that I've ever known for the first Playstation console. People still use it, because they have always used it to describe this console. The fact that some term becomes a part of the language and is commonly used in a given meaning makes it valid, no matter if its origin is "official" or not. The lack of a Sony stamp isn't more important than the fact that for millions of people around the globe Playstation = PSX.

Because PSX wasn't and isn't a name for the Playstation - it's the name of a PS2 DVR.  PSX was never used in the official magazines. No matter how many people incorrectly use a term, that doesn't "correct" the term. If everyone started calling the Xbox "puddles" would that be it's name? Nope.
People should stop using it because it's no longer just an incorrect term but now specifically the name of another console. Habits are hard to break, but not impossible.....
