PS-X = code name for the Playstation.

PSX = different console.

PSX in reference to the Playstation came around from people contracting the dev name for the Playstation. So really using PSX in reference to the Playstation is wrong on two accounts.

That's way later. By that time, people had already used PSX (no dash) so much that your argument is obsolete.

From Gamenow:

PS-X
Became: PlayStation

As an unknown entity, Sony’s original PlayStation could have been named anything during development. PS-X – an acronym for its full codename of PlayStation Experimental – was even to be the final name when SCEA’s marketing department found out through early research that the PlayStation brand was hated among consumers. So close was Sony to calling the console PS-X that many still refer to the PlayStation this way even now.

Simple really.

Yeah it is simple. The Playstation was never actually called the PS-X. Anyone who called it that was calling it by an obsolete name, and anyone who currently does it isn't just reffering to an obsolete name, they are using the name of an entirely different console.

There really isn't anything more to say - I'm not sure what your intentions are...The PSX is the name for a PS2 DVR, never was and never has been an official name for the Playstation therefore there is no reason to refer to the Playstation as the PSX.
